Use chat
Chat keeps conversations attached to their event. Use an event channel, a team channel or a conversation with one person.
Available conversations and permission to write depend on your access and speaking restrictions. Being able to read a channel does not guarantee that you can send messages.
Choose a conversation
- Open Chat in the event.
- Select the event or team channel in the list.
- To speak to one person, use New conversation and search the available people.
- Check the conversation name and participants before writing.
A private conversation and a team channel have different recipients. Do not rely only on a person’s name mentioned in the text.
Send a useful message
Write the message, then Send. On a computer, Enter sends and Shift + Enter inserts a line break.
Use the mention control to draw someone’s attention and the reference control to link the discussion to an available task, entry or document. A reference does not grant access the recipient does not already have.
Attach a file or photo when helpful. Follow the form’s limits and check that sending finishes. A pending or failed message should not be considered received.
Find and use a conversation
Search within chat to find a message. Its menu offers authorized actions, such as replying or creating a task or log entry from the content. Check the destination and complete its form before confirming.
Conversations become read-only when the event closes. Use broadcasts for an announcement requiring explicit acknowledgement or a question with two answers.
